Ontario County Parks & Recreation Master Plan
The County currently operates and maintains five (5) County parks Three Mills Park in Phelps, Deep Run and Ontario Beach Park s along the eastern shore of Canandaigua Lake in Gorham. Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill in South Bristol. and Grimes Glen Park in Naples. The County also provides open space at the Public Square in the City of Canandaigua. The southeast portion of the Public Square contains a lawn and a fountain in front of the City of Canandaigua's Police Station, while the northwest portion between the Canandaigua YMCA and Canandaigua City Hall contains a lawn and a gazebo with a grass seating area sculpted to the west These properties are to be assessed as part of this plan.
The purpose of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan is to establish a clearly defined vision for the future of the County Parks System and guide decision-making on its development and management over the next 10-20 years.
The Plan will assess the parks, trails, recreation facilities, and open spaces within the County, identify deficiencies based on community input and application of recreation planning standard s, forecast future needs. determine the appropriate role of the County Parks System in meeting the open space and recreational needs of County residents while supporting tourism and economic development. and thus provide guidance for both short- and long -range planning for the system It will also align with federal, state, regional, and local goals, directives and standards for parks and recreation.
Parks & Recreation Community Survey
