Records and Archives Volunteer and Internship Opportunities

Volunteer Program

Our volunteers have become a valuable asset to our department. Not only have they accomplished projects that benefit genealogists and other researchers, they remind us about the importance of Ontario County history to not only residents but others who have an interest in historical records.
Volunteering provides opportunities to:
  • Work on projects which will shape your knowledge of local history and genealogy
  • Complete projects which reflect your interests and skills
  • Learn how records centers and archives operate
  • Learn about the preservation of records
  • Gain fulfilling experiences with staff and other volunteers

     Volunteers

  • Work an average of four hours on a set schedule (hours per week are flexible)
  • Are provided with an informal tour of the department and discuss projects/procedures to determine if working is still an interest to prospective volunteers
