What is Service Connected compensation?
It's a monthly monetary benefit paid to veterans who were injured in the military or suffered from illnesses as a result of their military service. If the veteran had a pre-existing disability which was aggravated by military service, that can also qualify for service-connected compensation.

The claim is filed with the Department of Veterans Affairs who rates the disability in increments of 10% from 10% ($108) to 100% ($2299) for single veteran.
