In light of the Governor’s directive, we are in the process of reducing our on-site staffing by at least 50%. All critical services will continue to be available.

  • Eligibility programs (Temporary Assistance, SNAP, HEAP and Medicaid): Face to face interviews are not required for any eligibility program for the duration of the Governor’s order. Individuals who appear at either DSS office will be asked to drop off their application/documentation and leave a phone number where they can be reached for an interview. Staff will continue to be on-site or working from home to process benefits.

  • Workforce Development: Staff is on-site every day in both offices to provide assistance by phone or email.  Use of the Resource Room in the Canandaigua location is by appointment only. Please call (585) 396-4020 to schedule an appointment.

  • Services (Child Protective, Preventive, Foster Care, and Adult Services): Minimal staff will be on-site every day. Most caseworkers will be working from home rather than from the office. The work will continue as usual as there have been no changes in state/federal requirements.

  • Child Support: Staff is on-site every day to provide assistance by phone or email.

If you need a DSS service, please call our office before visiting us. Thank you!
