Safety Programs for Seniors

The Ontario County SALT Council (Seniors and Lawmen Together) is a partnership of the Ontario County Office for the Aging, the Sheriff's Department, community groups and individuals. The mission is to promote older adult safety and to reduce senior's fear of crime. The SALT Council was started on December 15, 1999 and meets once a month for 11 months a year. The council discusses public safety issues and set up speakers that can give presentations to the seniors on the third Tuesday of each month at 9:00 A.M. in the food court of Eastview Mall or at Quail Summit in Canandaigua.

The SALT Council has created several programs to ensure the safety of the Ontario County senior citizens, including Project Lifesaver and the 911 Cell Phone Program.

If you would like to join the council or attend one of the presentations call the Office for the Aging at (585) 396 - 4040. You may also choose to visit the Ontario County Sheriff's Office website.
