Ontario County noted one transfer to another county and no new positive COVID-19 cases today. This brings our COVID-19 case count down to 203. NYSDOH is changing to a different data and case documentation system called CommCare. Per NYSDOH negative test totals will not be available during this time. We hope to be able to share the negative case counts with you again very soon.

May 25, 2020

Nine new COVID-19 cases, mostly associated with long-term care. We now can confirm 3 additional deaths from Elm Manor over the weekend. The number of recoveries has also increased today. (Updated 5/26/2020)

May 23, 2020

A little good news today! We are starting to see more recoveries. Recoveries should increase throughout the week. Tomorrow (5/24/2020), is 10 days after Ontario County had a large case spike (22 cases on 5/24/2020). Per the NYSDOH protocol, to be released from isolation a resident must have these three elements; a time period of 10 days after testing positive, no fever for 3 days (no fever reducers) and improving symptoms. In some COVID-10 positive patients this can take a very long time depending on how sick they were.

We are now using NYSDOH’s negative test numbers. They do not send the number of negatives to Local Health Departments on the weekend. You may see a spike in negative test results on Tuesday.

The GIS map is updated on Monday-Friday and it will be updated on Tuesday because of the Memorial Day holiday. (Updated 5/23/2020)

May 22, 2020

Please note that we had three new cases today. Of the three new cases we are working with our nurses to isolate a physical address in Ontario County as indicated in the GIS map. We are also actively investigating any long term care affiliations with two of the cases as indicated by the green bar on the graph. Unfortunately, an Elm Manor resident that had tested positive for COVID-19 has passed. We extend our condolences to the resident’s family and the Elm Manor employees.

Please remember that due to the holiday weekend the graph and map will be updated on 5/25/2020. The updated data will continue to be available every afternoon. (Updated 5/22/2020)

May 20, 2020

Please note that today we had 1 positive COVID-19 case that we transferred to another county Health Department. (Decreasing our total to 162 at the beginning of the day. Plus, the 10 new ones today =172.) Unfortunately, we also had one death associated with Elm Manor to report.

May 14, 2020

COVID-19 Cases Confirmed at Elm Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Canandaigua.

Ontario County Public Health is working with New York State Department of Health and Elm Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation (Canandaigua location) to investigate a total of twenty-five newly reported COVID-19 cases. Twenty-four residents and one employee have tested positive and more testing is underway. An additional employee that is a Wayne County resident has also tested positive, bringing the total for the facility to twenty-six residents and staff members. The nursing home is taking action to reduce the possibility of spread.

Elm Manor has provided skilled nursing care in Canandaigua for many years. A representative of Elm Manor stated; “Elm Manor continues to provide the highest level of quality professional nursing services in a warm and nurturing environment. During this difficult time, we will continue to monitor every resident and staff member. We have followed the guidelines set-forth by New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We are working closely with Ontario County Public Health to make sure all residents receive the best care possible and that our staff is safe. The health and safety of every person in Elm Manor is our priority.”

Working closely with New York State Department of Health, Ontario County Public Health is actively investigating this outbreak and utilizing strategies to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community. This investigation is still underway. (Updated 5/21/2020
